I taught preschool this week at Lauren's preschool. It is a co-op preschool so I get to aid for three weeks and teach for three weeks during the year. Our theme this week was Presidents. It was not so easy to teach them about presidents when they didn't even know what the US was or even CA, but we managed to have some fun anyway. Today we read a book called "Duck for President." It is a really silly book about a disgruntled duck. He decides he hates working on the farm, so they hold an election and he runs for farmer. He wins and then runs for governor, and then runs for president. Finally he decides that being president is too hard and goes back to the farm. The kids loved it. Then we decided to dress the kids up as president and ask them what they would do if they were president. I got responses like "I would take out all the bad guys" or "I would make houses out of blocks." My favorite was " I would help people up when they fall down." If a president could promise that - I think I would vote for him or her for sure. Politics have become so complicated . It is no longer a matter of voting for the best man, or voting for the one you trust, or the one who represents your views. They all want to please everyone, there is no more wrong or right, but a huge gray area. Maybe by the time these kids grow up and are old enough to run for office things will be more clear. For now we can just sit back and hope that our new president will do something good for our country. What do you think? Will Obama help our country? We can always hope, right?
P.S. I still have one more spot on my "Pay It Forward" post. If you would like a homemade treat from me please comment!

The Blue and Gold Dinner was very nice! Thank you for all your hard work. We had a nice time!!! Sorry I didn't get to talk to you. Everytime I wanted to, it would have interrupted the speaker, or you were busy with either kids or serving all the food. I bet you rested well afterward! It was fun.
