When Dave was called to be the Gospel Doctrine teacher at church we were very surprised to say the least. It was very unexpected. Now he has taught for about 3 weeks and is doing well. He is settling in very nicely. Then we got a call from the Bishop. He wanted to come by and see us. I didn't think that they would release Dave yet, so that only leaves me. I was right. They released me from my fifth run as primary pianist and asked me to play for the choir. I tried to get out of it - I named everyone I could think of that played better than I do (which is pretty much everyone), but it didn't work. I told them that I wouldn't be able to play anything too hard, and they promised to stick to mostly hymns and simple arrangements. Needless to say I am scared to death. Playing piano for primary is great. If you mess up no one notices because the kids are so cute. Playing for Rachel (my niece) is ok because she only sings one part, but the choir! If you are reading this and you are in the choir - Please Sing Loud! - so no one will hear me play! I promise to give it my best shot, but I can't guarantee anything. It is times like this when you wish you had listened to your parents and taken a few more years of lessons!

You always play so lovely in Primary !! and you aren't even given a heads up on the songs prior to playing !! You will be awesome in the choir !!!
Most of the time I really wish I could play the piano, but it's times like that (reading your post) I am kind of glad I don't! I'm sure you will do fine at first, and then you will learn and grow so much and do a wonderful job.
Apparently Heavenly Father thought the same as you (should have listened to parents and taken more lessons) so he is helping you out by putting you in this position to excel in your talent that he has faith in you to do! You will be awesome. You may even surprise yourself with being able to handle more than you think you can.
You'll be great!!!
You will be great! hey, we all have to start somewhere...can't hide in primay forever! :) Just do like me and leave a lot of notes out! :) Nicole is real easy to work with and she doesn't do hard stuff...I was as scared as you are when I first did it...and I still get really nervous, but I just pray for the spirit to help the audience hear the CHOIR...you'll be great. enjoy expanding your talent! David does a great job in gospel doctrine too...I am enjoying his class.
You will be wonderful Melissa..."whom the Lord calls, the Lord qualifies!"
Well if i was in your ward melissa i'd sing extra loud for you...but if i sing too loud they might ask you to play louder so they don't have to hear me sing!
Your husband does a great job at teaching Sunday School!!! Today's lesson was good!! You're an excellent pianist...no worries!!!
What comment do you think I should make about this one Melissa ? I think you will do great with the choir. Another learning experience Heavenly Father wants you to have! love mom
